Harsh climatic condition during winter and long summer with mild rainfall are the main constraints for carrying out agriculture and socio-economic development in the Gewog. Depredation of domestic animals by wild predators is another challenge for livestock development in the gewog. Low population, absence of motorable road, limited land holding are the other challenges faced by the community all year round. The only source of earning cash income to supplement livelihood at present is portage for the developmental activities and tourists during tourist season. Further, the people of this Gewog have land holdings in Khamae Gewog where agriculture activities are carried out more extensively to support their livelihood.
A large flock of tourists visit Gasa Tsachu, renowned for medicinal value, almost six to seven months in a year. Construction of motorable road is also under consideration in the ninth plan. Absence of hydroelectricity is yet another constraint faced by the people. Inaccessibility to market for any local products is a barrier against the surplus production.
