December 19, 2019:

The most awaited third batch basic cooking skills training

This morning Gasa Dzongda opened the three-day training on basic food cooking skills at Gasa Tshachu. The training is being attended by 36 farmstay/homestay owners from Laya Gewog under Gasa Dzongkhag and 10 more are expected to join from the next day. The training coordinated by the Dzongkhag Administration will cover basic cooking skills on a wide range of simple menus using as far as possible the local ingredients and materials. Participants will also be familiarized with essential utensils/equipment and get knowledge of basic ingredients and kitchen hygiene. The training is being conducted by Ms. Deki Wangmo assisted by Ms Dawa Zam who is a professional cook and Ms Ugyen Wangmo who was a trainee of a similar training held in July 2019 and a homestay owner in Gasa. Prior to this, two such trainings were held in February and July covering the two Gewogs of Khatoed and Khamoed. We are expecting this training to greatly benefit the people of Laya Gewog who earnestly look forward in learning the cooking skills that can serve delicious foods for their family and the outsiders who in turn search for accommodation in their homestays.

The Dzongkhag Administration would like to extend our deepest gratitude and sincere appreciations to the supporter of the training, the Office of the Gyalpoi Zimpon, Tourism Council of Bhutan and the training facilitator, Ms. Deki Wangmo.

Thank you everyone and all the best of luck for the participants.
